Gunmen Attack CAC Congregation in Eruku, Abduct Pastor and Worshippers

Tension and grief spread across Eruku, a community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Tuesday evening after armed terrorists launched a deadly attack on a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC). The gunmen reportedly stormed the church during a meeting and opened fire without warning, sending worshippers running in panic.

According to eyewitness accounts, three worshippers were shot dead instantly as the attackers unleashed sporadic gunfire inside the building. The heavily armed men then seized several people, including the church pastor, and forced them into the surrounding bushes. Residents said the exact number of abducted victims remains unknown as the community continues to account for its members.

Sources revealed that the attackers escaped through bush paths linking Eruku to neighbouring settlements, leaving the town in confusion and fear. The incident came just hours after widespread panic was reported in the area, following reports of gunmen advancing into the town from one of its major entry routes.

Earlier in the day, travellers and residents fled into nearby forests as the terrorists fired shots while moving deeper into the community. Abandoned vehicles were left scattered along the road as people scrambled for safety. A traveller who narrowly escaped the attack shared a distressing video from his hiding place in the bush, pleading for urgent security intervention as continuous gunfire echoed around him.

The shaken resident could be heard saying:
“This is 18-11-2025… They started shooting and everybody ran into the bush. Please come to our rescue. People have abandoned their vehicles. The whole community is in chaos.”

As of the time of this report, the assailants were said to be moving unhindered through parts of the state, attacking communities and causing widespread fear. Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while residents remain anxious over the safety of the abducted worshippers.
