Peter Obi Will Not Contest 2027 Election Under Labour Party – Ozigbo

Valentine Ozigbo, a former CEO of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria and ex-member of the Labour Party (LP), has claimed that Peter Obi will not run for president in 2027 on the LP platform, which he used in the 2023 election.

Ozigbo, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), cited his commitment to the broader vision for Anambra State as his reason for leaving the opposition party.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, he expressed doubts about the future of the LP and suggested that Obi is likely to leave the party ahead of the next general election.

“I don’t see a future for the Labour Party. I’m happy to live with that assertion, and I would like to be proven wrong,” Ozigbo stated.

He also referenced Obi’s political history, noting his past movements across different parties.

“Peter Obi that we are talking about also left ANPP to APGA, then to PDP, and finally to Labour Party. I can almost guarantee that if he wishes to run for election, it’s not going to be under Labour Party,” he said.

While emphasizing that he is not Obi’s spokesperson, Ozigbo revealed that he had been privy to coalition discussions that further convinced him of Obi’s potential departure from LP.
