Northern Forum Applauds Tinubu’s Reforms

A coalition of prominent Northern leaders under the banner of the Northern Bridge Builders Forum (NBBF) has publicly declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. The group cited the President’s policy reforms and leadership approach as key drivers of national progress, particularly in the areas of security, economic stabilization, and unity.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the convener of the Forum, Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya, lauded the administration for what he described as bold and decisive governance. He highlighted the President’s commitment to tackling insecurity, including legislative moves such as the proposed creation of Armed Forest Guards aimed at protecting rural communities and curbing the activities of criminal groups.

Despite acknowledging recent security challenges in regions like Borno, Zamfara, Plateau, and Kaduna, the Forum stressed the need for continued federal intervention and heightened action against insurgents and bandits. “These recurring attacks are alarming and must be addressed with urgency,” Ikenya stated.

On the economic front, the group praised the removal of fuel subsidies and Nigeria’s ongoing foreign debt repayments, characterizing these moves as courageous steps necessary for long-term fiscal stability. While noting that these policies have caused short-term hardship for many Nigerians, the Forum maintained that the nation stands to benefit in the long run through redirected investments in essential sectors.

The Forum also commended President Tinubu’s push for local government autonomy, describing it as a critical move to strengthen grassroots governance. It urged governors across all states to lend their support to the initiative.

Additionally, the Forum applauded what it called the President’s inclusive leadership style, noting that his openness to dialogue and cross-regional engagement has helped strengthen unity among Nigeria’s diverse communities.

Calling for public patience and resilience, the group cautioned against attempts to derail the administration’s agenda, urging citizens to look beyond immediate discomfort and trust the reform process. In its closing remarks, the Forum formally endorsed President Tinubu for another term in office, expressing full confidence in his ability to continue leading Nigeria toward sustainable development.
