INEC Receives Petition to Recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially acknowledged receipt of a petition initiating the recall process of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, currently representing Kogi Central in the Nigerian Senate.

The petition was received on Monday by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, at INEC headquarters in Abuja.

The petition was submitted with over 250,000 constituents’ signatures, out of about 480,000 registered voters in Kogi Central, which meets INEC’s requirement of 50 per cent plus one.

The petition, presented by Ms. Charity Ijese, on behalf of the constituents, was received at INEC office in Lokoja, the state capital, on Monday morning and stamped accordingly.

Further details regarding the grounds for the petition and the next steps in the recall process are expected to be communicated by the Commission in due course.
