Governor Makinde Reassigns Portfolios of Five Top Aides

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has reshuffled his cabinet, announcing the reassignment of five commissioners to new ministries in a move aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery across key sectors.

The reshuffle was confirmed in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi, and made public on Monday through a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

According to the letter, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Seun Ashamu, has been moved to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, while Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, who previously held that position, will now head the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.

In a strategic swap, the current Commissioner for Public Works, Prof. Dahud Shangodoyin, will take over Ashamu’s former role at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Also affected is the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Solihu Adelabu, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Establishments and Training. In turn, Segun Olayiwola, the outgoing Establishments Commissioner, will now lead the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Governor Makinde directed that the changes take immediate effect and charged the commissioners to approach their new responsibilities with dedication, loyalty, and commitment to the development agenda of the state.

The reshuffle is seen as part of the governor’s effort to reposition his administration midway into his second term, ensuring that key ministries are led by individuals whose skills align with current state priorities.
