Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai have jointly adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the official platform for a new opposition coalition.
According to a report by DAILY POST, the decision was reached during a high-level meeting held on Tuesday night. A source familiar with the meeting, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed to the outlet that the coalition has effectively taken shape.
“They have adopted the African Democratic Congress as the coalition party. Atiku, Obi, and El-Rufai are all working together. The final decision was made last night and continued into the early hours of this morning,” the source said. “You know how politicians operate — they meet while the rest of us are asleep.”
The source added that all key stakeholders and leaders were present at the meeting, during which committees were established to finalize operational details and prepare for the public unveiling.
“As of now, the coalition is effectively in place,” the insider stated. “The meeting where the decision was concluded has already taken place.”
When asked about a date for the official unveiling, the source replied, “There’s no set date yet, but it will be very soon.”
