Enugu Political Shift: LP Leaders Mamah and Odo Return to PDP

In a significant political realignment in Enugu State, two prominent Labour Party (LP) figures—Prince Emeka Mamah and Barrister Titus Odo, have returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the developmental strides of Governor Peter Mbah as a key motivator. Prince Emeka Mamah, former Commissioner for Environment and Rural Development and the 2023 Enugu State Coordinator for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign, expressed admiration for Governor Mbah’s leadership.

He stated, “The present governor, Peter Mbah, has shown that governance is not supposed to be what it used to be in the past. He has endeared my heart so much, and that is why somebody like me, the person I brought here today, and so many other people will have to join the party.”

Barrister Titus Odo, former LP Publicity Secretary and chairmanship candidate for Igboeze North LGA, echoed similar sentiments, describing the PDP as his “home” and attributing his return to the governor’s “giant strides in the state.”

The defections were officially received by Dr. Martin Chukwunwike, the PDP State Chairman, who highlighted the governor’s directive to reconcile with aggrieved former members. He noted that the party anticipates more high-profile returns, including four LP National Assembly members.

These developments follow the earlier defection of LP’s 2023 Enugu governorship candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, to the PDP, signaling a broader shift in the state’s political landscape.
