Anambra 2025: Ukachukwu Clinches APC Governorship Ticket

Nicholas Ukachukwu has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming Anambra State election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee and Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, following the conclusion of the party’s primary election, which spanned Saturday through Sunday.

Ukachukwu secured a decisive victory, polling 1,455 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Valentine Ozigbo, who garnered 67 votes. Other contenders, Johnbosco Onunkwo and Edozie Madu, scored 26 and eight votes respectively, while 26 votes were declared invalid.

In his acceptance speech, Ukachukwu expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for facilitating a peaceful and transparent primary election. He also lauded the APC National Working Committee, the electoral committee led by Senator Otu, fellow aspirants, and party delegates for their efforts in ensuring a smooth process.

“I call on my fellow contestants to unite and rally around my candidacy. The most important thing now is to deliver Anambra to the APC,” he stated. Highlighting his longstanding influence in Anambra politics, Ukachukwu added, “I have played the role of a godfather, but now, I am ready to father myself.”

He promised not to betray the trust reposed in him by party members and the people of Anambra, vowing to run a campaign focused on progress and unity.

With this victory, Ukachukwu will face off against the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and George Moghalu of the Labour Party in what is expected to be a fiercely contested race.
