A coalition of opposition parties in Gombe State has officially adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its unified platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made during an “Expanded Caucus Meeting” held on Tuesday at the Shugleez Event Centre, which brought together ADC officials and key figures from various opposition groups across the state.
Leading the coalition, former minister Idris Umar clarified that the alliance is not merely a bid to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), but a broader effort to “rescue the nation and its people from ongoing socio-economic hardship.” He urged voters to make informed decisions in the upcoming elections, stressing that the electorate ultimately holds the power to determine the direction of the country.
Umar also revealed that the ADC would soon launch a statewide membership registration drive across all 114 wards in Gombe to grow its base and strengthen its grassroots presence. He added that the party welcomes all Nigerians, regardless of background or prior political affiliations.
In his remarks, ADC State Chairman Auwal Barde welcomed new members into the fold, assuring them of inclusion and the opportunity to play active roles in securing electoral success. He reiterated the coalition’s belief in the need for a shift in leadership at both the state and national levels, pointing to the current difficulties facing citizens as justification for change.
